An independent, USPAP-compliant valuation of your Fractional or Private Share — tailored to your specific ownership interest.

A shared aircraft appraisal has unique factors that can significantly affect the value of the investment. Shared ownership can take different forms — a single aircraft privately managed for two or three owners (a Private Share), or an aircraft that is part of a fleet managed through a program like NetJets, Flexjet, PlaneSense, or others (a Fractional Share). As an Accredited Member (AM) of the American Society of Appraisers (ASA) specializing in aircraft, Brad Searls provides an independent, USPAP-compliant appraisal supported by recognized professional standards and current market analysis — giving clients a credible opinion of fair market value tailored to their specific ownership interest.

The appraisal process for a shared aircraft is fundamentally different from a traditional whole-aircraft appraisal. Each share has a separate owner and value, and that share is inextricably attached to a management service required for proper performance. The share must be evaluated in relation to both the asset and the management terms.

With Fractional Shares, the aircraft is part of a fleet with maintenance and operations performed uniformly across the program. This standardization extends to the appraisal parameters set by the manager and defined in the Purchase Agreement, including time on the engines and interior condition. These appraisals are often requested during a dispute between the program provider's repurchase offer and the share owner.

For a Private Share, the process is closer to a whole-aircraft appraisal. Unlike Fractional Shares, the evaluation parameters usually aren't governed by a contract, and operation of the aircraft is less standardized — hours flown each year, engine program type, and age all vary. These appraisals are typically requested by a buyer who wants to understand what they're investing in and feel confident in the price.

Each program is governed by detailed contractual agreements that define ownership rights, operating procedures, transfer restrictions, and resale options. We carefully review these agreements to understand how they impact the value of the ownership interest — because the appraisal needs to reflect all of these variables to tell the complete story of the aircraft's value.
An independent appraisal gives owners, advisors, and financial professionals a well-supported opinion of value they can rely on for important financial decisions. Appraisals are frequently requested for:

A shared aircraft appraisal values an individual owner's interest in an aircraft that is jointly owned — either as a Private Share (privately managed among two or three owners) or a Fractional Share (part of a program fleet like NetJets, Flexjet, or PlaneSense).
A Fractional Share is part of a program fleet with standardized maintenance, operations, and appraisal parameters defined in the Purchase Agreement. A Private Share is closer to a whole-aircraft appraisal, without a governing contract standardizing hours flown, engine program, or age.
Each share has its own owner and value, and is inextricably attached to a management service required for proper performance. The appraisal has to reflect both the asset and the management or program terms that govern it, including ownership rights, operating procedures, transfer restrictions, and resale options.
Common reasons include buying or selling a shared ownership interest, estate planning and settlement, trust administration, divorce and equitable distribution, business valuations, tax planning and reporting, financing and lending, insurance purposes, program exit evaluations, and general financial planning.
